I was born and raised in Chatham Borough, New Jersey, attending the borough's public schools and graduating from Chatham High School. As a boy, I enjoyed reading maps and following the development of new roads and highways, especially the Interstate Highway System. I planned to be a Civil Engineer, so I attended Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) after high school. However, a sophomore year course in FORTRAN computer programming changed my focus, and I switched my major to computer science. After graduating from college, I worked for Exxon, in their Communications and Computer Science Department for about 12 years, interrupted by a period of service in the US Army. In 1983, I started Zeducorp, developing commercial database software applications for IBM personal computers and Novell local area networks. More recently, our business has evolved in a web design and development direction.
